Cauliflower and Potato Curry

A gravy dish made with potatoes, cauliflower and Indian spices.

Ingredients

For Onion Paste:-
  • 1 medium sized Onion (roughly chopped)
  • 2 Green chillies (roughly chopped)
  • 4 Garlic cloves (roughly chopped)
  • 1 inch Ginger piec (roughly chopped)
Other Ingredients:-
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 2 Tomatoes (ripe,pureed)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 2 tsp Coriander powder
  • medium sized Cauliflower florets (Half cauliflower)
  • 2 Potatoes (cut into large cubes)
  • Salt
  • Coriander (chopped)

Instructions

  • 1 Grind all ingredients under ‘onion paste ‘in a mixer grinder and keep aside. Make tomato puree. Keep aside.
  • 2 In a pressure cooker, add oil. Add the cumin seeds, allow them to sizzle. Add the onion paste and fry for 5 mins.
  • 3 Add tomato puree and cook for another 5 minutes.
  • 4 Add the spice powders. Fry for 2-3 minutes. Add the salt.
  • 5 Mix in the cauliflower florets and potatoes. Mix well till masala coats the gobi and potatoes.
  • 6 Add 2 cups of water and cover pressure cooker and cook on HIGH for 1 whistle. Keep aside till the pressure has been released from the cooker. Add coriander leaves.
  • 7 Serve hot with rice, rotis or parathas. (See Recipe Notes below)
