Chicken Handi

A quick Indian style dry chicken preparation.

Ingredients

For the Marinade:-
  • 500 grams Chicken (with bones, cut into large pieces)
  • Juice of 1/2 Lemon
  • 2 tbsp Curds, yoghurt (thick)
  • 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp Chicken tandoori masala
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin powder
  • 1/4 tsp Garam masala powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
Other Ingredients:-
  • 1 Onion (chopped)
  • 1 Tomato (chopped)
  • 1 Green chili (chopped)
  • 1 inch Ginger Piece (Chopped )
  • 2 tbsp Ghee

Instructions

  • 1 Marinate the chicken with ingredients under 'For the Marinade' for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
  • 2 Add ghee into the haandi. Fry the chicken till brown on all sides.
  • 3 Add the tomatoes, ginger , chilies and tomatoes. Cover and cook for 10-12 minutes.
  • 4 Stir in well. Cook for another 15 minutes till chicken is done.
  • 5 Sprinkle coriander .
  • 6 Serve with lemon. Enjoy hot with naan/roti/paratha. (See recipe notes below).
