Christmas Cookies

Tender butter cookies that are perfect for decorating for any occasion. This is a simple butter cookie recipe that is rolled out and cut into various shapes using cookie cutters.

Ingredients

For the Cookie Dough:-
  • 1 cup Butter
  • 1 1/2 cup Granulated white sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 tsp Almond Extract (Optional)
  • 2 1/4 cup All-pupose flour
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
For the Cookie Icing:-
  • 1 1/2 cup Icing sugar (Confectioners sugar)
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp Light corn syrup
  • 2 tbsp Water (at room temperature)
  • Sugar sprinkles of different colors

Instructions

  • 1 In a bowl, beat butter and sugar till light and fluffy. Add egg, beat well, and add the vanilla and almond extract and the flour along with salt and baking powder. Form a dough.
  • 2 Divide dough into 2 balls. Roll out approximately 12” wide and ½ “thick. Use cutter to cut out shapes.
  • 3 Preheat oven at 350 deg F. Place cookies on baking sheet. Bake for about 6-7 mins or until cookies are slightly brown at edges. Cool completely before icing.
  • 4 Prepare Icing with mixing all ingredients under ‘cookie icing’. Decorate cookies with icing along with the colored sprinkles.
  • 5 Allow to dry completely for at least 2 hours. Store in air tight containers.
