Goan Meatball Curry

Goan Meatball Curry is a quick and easy recipe. This Goan meatball curry recipe is a filling recipe ideal for lunch or dinner. It goes well with rice, chapatis or Pav.

Ingredients

For the meatballs:-
  • 1/2 kilograms Beef ( Minced)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 Onion (Finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp Coriander (Finely chopped)
  • 1 tbsp Vinegar
  • 1 Egg (Beaten well)
For the masala paste:-
  • 3 Kashmiri red chillies (dry)
  • 6 Peppercorns
  • 5 cloves
  • 1/2 inch Cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
Other ingredients:-
  • 1 Onion (Chopped)
  • 1 Tomato (Chopped)
  • 2 cup Coconut Milk
  • 6 Curry leaves
  • 2 Green chillies (Chopped)
  • 2 tbsp Corainder (Finely Chopped)
  • Oil (As required)
  • Salt (As required)

Instructions

  • 1 Put all ingredients for making meatballs in a bowl.
  • 2 Mix ingredients well.
  • 3 Form meatballs taking a tbsp each of the meat mixture.
  • 4 Take a pan, add 3 tbsp oil, fry the meat balls for about 5 mins till cooked. Keep the fried meatballs aside.
  • 5 Take another pan, add 2 tbsp oil, and fry onions till golden brown. Now add the tomatoes, fry well till soft.
  • 6 Put ingredients for masala paste in a grinder , add sufficient water , grind it to form a paste. Add this paste to the onion tomato mixture. Stir-fry it for a minute.
  • 7 Add the coconut milk, green chillies and curry leaves. Bring to a boil.
  • 8 Gently place the meatballs into this curry. Simmer for 2 -3 minutes. Add salt if required.
  • 9 Add chopped coriander. Serve with chapatis, steamed rice or Goan Pao. (See Recipe notes for pao recipe)

Recipe Notes

  1. Taking a tbsp each of meatball mixture will give you about 30-32 meatballs.
  2. Do not over fry the meatballs.
  3. Do not overcook the meat balls in the curry. (As they are already cooked fully when fried)
