Goan Sausage Dal

Quick and easy recipe to prepare masoor dal with a lovely flavor of Goan sausages.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Masoor dal
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 medium sized Onion (chopped)
  • 8-10 small sized Sausages
  • 2 tbsp Coriander (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp Oil

Instructions

  • 1 Wash the dal and soak for 15 minutes.
  • 2 In a pressure cooker, add 2 cups water along with turmeric powder and salt. Cook on high flame for 3 whistles. Remove from flame.
  • 3 In a pan, add oil and fry onions till soft. Add the sausages and fry for 2-3 minutes. Then cover and cook on low heat for 10 minutes.
  • 4 Add the dal, mix well.
  • 5 Cook on low for another 10 minutes. Add the coriander.
  • 6 Serve hot with rice or chapatis or Goan pao (see recipe notes below for Goan pao recipe).
