Ingredients

For the Burger Buns:-
  • 3 1/4 cup Flour (All-purpose or bread flour )
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1/4 cup Granulated white sugar
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Instant active yeast (If using active dry yeast, please check recipe notes below)
  • 2 Eggs (you can skip eggs, but adding eggs makes buns better and tasty)
  • 3/4 to 1 cup Milk or water (warm, not hot, it will kill the yeast if hot)
  • Sesame seeds (as required , optional)
For the Mince Cutlets:-
  • 300 grams Beef Mince (raw)
  • 1 medium sized Onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 Green chillies (finely chopped)
  • 3 tbsp Vinegar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper powder (optional)
  • Oil (for shallow frying)

Instructions

  • 1 Keep ingredients ready
  • 2 Mix all dry ingredients. (not the sesame seeds).
  • 3 Add 1 egg plus 1 egg yolk(reserve the egg white to brush the top of buns before baking) Add in the warm milk or water (add 3/4 cup then add more if required) and knead well till a soft dough is formed.
  • 4 Place dough in an oiled bowl and cover the bowl. Leave bowl in a warm place for at least 1-2 hours till the dough has doubled.
  • 5 Once the dough is doubled, punch out the air lightly. Form 8 balls and slightly flatten like buns and place them on a greased baking tray. Leave aside to rise for another 1 hour. Preheat oven at 375 deg F (190 deg C). Once risen, apply milk or egg white on top of buns and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • 6 Bake for 15-20 minutes till top of buns turn brown. Brush with butter on top of buns. Wrap buns in a cloth for at least 15 minutes.(so that they turn out soft).
  • 7 Make any type of sandwich. I made beef burger cutlets. (Mix all ingredients mentioned under 'for cutlets', shape into cutlets and shallow fry them till cooked.) Sandwich the cutlets between lettuce, onion rings , tomato slices, ketchup, ,mayonnaise.
  • 8 Serve hot with french fries. Enjoy!!!

Recipe Notes

  • If using dry yeast, add 1 1/2 tbsp  dry yeast with 1 tsp sugar(granulated white sugar) and 1/4 cup warm water(not HOT, it will kill the yeast) in a small bowl. Leave it aside for 15 minutes. You will notice bubbles appearing after 15 mins. (This shows the yeast is alive and active. If bubbles are not formed it shows that the yeast is dead. Please don't use that yeast).
  • Then use this yeast mixture in recipe at Step 2 and proceed with remaining 1/4 cup milk or water and sugar mentioned in the recipe.
