Meethichi Bhaji

A side dish mostly had for lunch along with Goan curry, rice and some fried fish. This vegetable can be enjoyed with chapatis as well for diner.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1 small Onion (chopped)
  • 2 Green chilies (chopped)
  • 6 Garlic cloves (chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 medium sized Potato (chopped into small cubes)
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 large bunch Meethi ((about 2 cups meethi leaves))

Instructions

  • 1 Clean meethi leaves, wash well and chop them. Keep aside. In a skillet, add oil and fry onions till soft. Add the green chilies and garlic. Fry for a minute.
  • 2 Add turmeric powder, salt and potatoes. Fry for 2 minutes. Add ¼ cup water. Cover and cook potatoes till half cooked.
  • 3 Add the meethi leaves. Cover and cook for another 5 minutes till done.
  • 4 Put off flame and leave the skillet covered till ready to serve.
  • 5 Serve bhaji hot as a side dish with rice, Goan curry and fish. (See Recipe notes below) OR enjoy it with rotis alone.
