Onion Bhaji

On this rainy day, decided to go in for some onion bhajis / pakodas and some masala chai. Onion bhaji or onion pakodas are a very popular deep fried snack made with chick pea / gram flour. I added rice flour for that extra crispiness.

  • 1/2 cup Rice flour
  • 1/4 tsp Baking Soda

Instructions

  • 1 In a bowl, add onion , salt and ginger. Nicely crush the onions with your hands. Keep aside for 10-15 mins .(so that the onion releases water).

  • 3 Sprinkle sufficient water little at a time while mixing , to get a nice thick batter .(that coats the back of a spoon, not too runny).
  • 4 Heat oil, drop the batter little by little in hot oil (keep on medium flame) forming bhajis / bhajas / pakodas.
  • 5 Fry on one side till golden brown and flip on other side.
  • 6 Fry till nice and golden brown color. Drain on a absorbent paper towel.
  • 7 Serve hot with chai. Enjoy!
