Panna Cotta

Panna Cotta is an Italian classic which is a sweetened cream thickened with gelatin and molded. It's simple to make at home with this easy recipe. Panna Cotta can be made with various flavors and fruit sauces. This is a recipe for vanilla panna cotta served with fresh strawberry sauce.

Ingredients

For the Panna Cotta:-
  • 200 ml Heavy whipping cream
  • 200 ml Milk
  • 4 tbsp Granulated white sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp Gelatine (use vegetarian gelatine for veg users)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla essence
For the Fresh Strawberry Sauce:-
  • 1 cup Fresh Strawberries (Keep aside 2 strawberries for serving)
  • 3 tbsp Granulated white sugar

Instructions

Prepare the Panna Cotta:-
  • 1 Keep ingredients ready.
  • 2 In a small bowl, take 2 tbsp water and sprinkle the gelatine over the water. Allow it to soak for 5 minutes. Then microwave it for 5 seconds till it melts.
  • 3 In a saucepan, mix milk, cream and sugar. Allow it to simmer.(Do not boil this mixture).
  • 4 Remove from flame, add vanilla essence. Stir well.
  • 5 Strain in the gelatine. Mix well.
  • 6 Pour the mixture in 4 ramekins. Allow it to cool completely. Cover ramekins using cling film and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight.
Prepare the Strawberry sauce:-
  • 7 Chop the strawberries.
  • 8 In a saucepan, add the strawberries with sugar along with 2-3 tbsp water. Allow it to cook for 5 minutes. Cool completely.
  • 9 Strain the sauce. Allow it to chill in the refrigerator.
Serve:-
  • 10 Dip the bottom of each ramekin in a bowl of hot water for 10 seconds. Run a thin knife around the edges of the ramekin. Invert the panna cotta on a serving plate.
  • 11 Serve it with the chilled strawberry sauce with fresh strawberry.
