Pita Bread(Flat Bread)

A favorite to serve with dips and spreads, and pita wraps (sandwiches). Pita bread is not difficult to make, recipe for simple and delicious homemade flatbread - perfect for a wrap, flatbread appetizers or to make flatbread pizzas!

  • 2 cup All-Purpose Flour (or wheat flour)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp Honey (or sugar)
  • 1 1/2 tsp Instant active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 200 ml Water


  • 1 Mix all ingredients and knead to form a sticky dough.
  • 2 Place the dough in an oiled bowl and cover the bowl and keep in warm place to rise for about an hour. You will see that the dough has doubled in size.
  • 3 Punch the air from dough very lightly and divide dough into 8 portions. Keep them covered for 15 minutes so that they rise.
  • 4 Without punching the air, dust them in flour and flatten them lightly.
  • 5 Roll them out into circles or oval shapes. Cover a cloth over the rolled flat breads and let them rest for 15 minutes.
  • 6 On a hot skillet, on a medium low flame, place the flat bread. Check to see the bubbles appearing on the surface. (this will take about 2 minutes).
  • 7 Flip and cook for another 2 minutes.
  • 8 Enjoy flat breads with hummus or use them as as wraps to make sandwiches. (See Recipe notes below).
