Prawn Potato Chops

Potato chops are a favorite in my family. This is the recipe for chops with prawn stuffing. You can also make them using beef mince filling.

For the Prawn Stuffing:-
  • 1 large Onion (Finely chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1 Green chili (finely chopped)
  • 1/4 tsp Garam masala
  • 1/4 cube Tastemaker (bouillon)
  • 1 cup Fresh Prawns
  • 3 tbsp Oil
Other Ingredients:-
  • 4 medium sized Potatoes
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • Rawa (as required for coating chops)
  • 1 Egg (beaten well with 1 tbsp water)
  • Oil (for shallow frying)


Prepare the Prawn Stuffing:-
  • 1 In a pan, add the oil. Fry the onion till soft. Add the turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, taste maker. Fry for 30 seconds.
  • 2 Add the prawns. Cook till prawns are done. (do not add water while cooking).
  • 3 Add the green chilies, fry for a minute. Adjust the salt and sprinkle with coriander. Let the stuffing cool.
Prepare the Chops:-
  • 4 Boil, peel and mash the potatoes. Add 1/2 tsp salt. Mix well. Refrigerate this mixture for at least 30 minutes.
  • 5 Divide potato mixture into 8 equal portions.
  • 6 Apply some oil on your palms, take one portion of the potato mixture, make a depression in it. Put sufficient prawn filling in the depression. You can use beef mince filling too. (See recipe notes below).
  • 7 Close the chops.
  • 8 Prepare all 8 chops in the same manner.
  • 9 Dip chops in egg and then in rawa.
  • 10 In a pan, heat sufficient oil and shallow fry chops on both sides till done.
  • 11 Serve !
