Spicy Chicken (Goan Style)

Semi-dry spicy, tangy chicken in a Goan based masala

Ingredients

For the Masala Paste:-
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 inch Cinnamon stick
  • 6 cloves
  • 4 Cardamom pods
  • 1 tsp Black Peppercorns
  • 1 tbsp Coriander seeds
  • 1 inch Ginger Piece
  • 8 Garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 3 Green chilies
  • 6 Dry Kashmiri chilies
  • 6 tbsp White Vinegar
Other Ingredients:-
  • 1 Kilograms Chicken (cut into medium sized pieces)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 4 tbsp Oil
  • 2 large Onions (sliced)
  • 1 large Tomato (sliced)
  • 2 small marble sized Tamarind Balls (soak in ΒΌ cup water)
  • 1/4 cup Coriander (chopped)

Instructions

  • 1 Grind the ingredients mentioned under 'for masala paste' using vinegar and some water to form a paste. Wash chicken, apply salt and the ground masala to it. Leave it aside for 30 minutes.
  • 2 Add oil in a skillet. Fry the onions till golden brown. Add the tomatoes and cook till soft.
  • 3 Add the marinated chicken. Fry for 5 minutes.
  • 4 Add 1 cup water and the tamarind water, cover skillet and cook till chicken is done.
  • 5 Add the coriander.
  • 6 Mix well.
  • 7 Serve hot!
