Tawa Paneer

Tawa paneer is a restaurant style paneer dish made with homemade paneer. It is easy to make. It is a semi-dry paneer dish that goes well with chapatis or parathas.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Carom seeds (ajwain)
  • 1 medium sized Onion (chopped)
  • 2 Medium sized Tomatoes (chopped)
  • 1 Green chili (chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder (use less for kids)
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Pav Bhaji masala
  • 1 tsp Tandoori powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp yoghurt
  • 2 tbsp Kasoori meethi
  • 250 grams Paneer (See recipe link below for homemade paneer)
  • 1 tbsp Butter

Instructions

  • 1 In a skillet, add oil. Crush carom seeds between your palms and add to oil and fry for a minute till you get a nice aroma from the seeds. Fry onions till soft. Add tomatoes and cook till soft. Add the turmeric, chili and coriander, pav bhaji, tandoori powders. Fry for a minute.
  • 2 Add the salt and yoghurt.
  • 3 Crush kasoori meethi between your palms and add to the dish.
  • 4 Add the paneer and butter.
  • 5 Mix gently and let the butter melt.
  • 6 Serve hot with Chapatis or paratha. (See Recipe notes below for paratha recipe link).
