Tora Shiro

Tora shiro means raw mango slices . This recipe shows you to make a very easy pickle recipe (water pickle) that is kept to mature for atleast 2 weeks and then enjoyed with goan kangee or any Goan food.

  • 2 large Raw mangoes (tora)
  • 2 Green chillies (slit)
  • 1 Dry red Kashmiri chilly
  • 1 tsp Granulated white sugar
  • 2 tbsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp White Vinegar


  • 1 Wash and wipe the raw mangoes. Cut them into thin slices as show in the pic.
  • 2 Place the mango slices in a glass jar. Fill water(room temperature) till top of glass jar. Add the salt, sugar, chilies and vinegar.
  • 3 Let the mango slices get pickled for at least 2 weeks. Serve these slices with pez(Goan kangee) or with daily goan meals.
