Tricolor sandwiches/Indian Flag Sandwiches

I grew up calling these sandwiches ‘Indian flag sandwiches ‘. A great combination of our very own goan chutney along with a mild sweet taste of carrot paste. Try it !

Ingredients

  • 24 Slice breads (Trim sides of slice bread)
  • Coconut coriander chutney (See Recipe Notes below for Coconut Coriander Chutney Recipe)
  • 1 tbsp Butter (Melted)
For Carrot paste:-
  • 3 Carrots (Roughly grated)
  • Mayonnaise (As required to make a thick paste)
  • Orange food color ((Powder or liquid food color) As required)

Instructions

  • 1 Grind the carrots with a pinch of orange food color along with sufficient mayonnaise to form a spreadable fine paste.
  • 2 Mix butter in the coconut coriander chutney.
  • 3 Take 3 slices of bread. Bottom slice, apply carrot paste. To the opposite slice bread (middle slice bread) apply some mayonnaise. Put these 2 slices together.
  • 4 Apply coconut coriander chutney on top of middle slice bread. To the opposite slice bread (first slice bread) apply some mayonnaise. Put these 3 slices together.
  • 5 Repeat process till you are done with all sandwiches. Cut each sandwich.
  • 6 Cut sandwiches to see the vibrant colors! Serve.

Recipe Notes

    1. Can substitute tomato ketchup for carrot paste.
    2. Once sandwiches are ready and if not serving them immediately, wrap them in a moist cloth, in a closed container and in refrigerator to keep them fresh.
    3. Keep them 1 hour at room temperature before serving if refrigerated.
