Wash the basmati rice well and keep aside.
Grind all the ingredients for ‘coconut masala’ in a mixer grinder using about ¼ cup water to form a fine paste. Keep it aside.

In a pressure cooker, add the ghee. Fry the onion till soft and translucent. |

Add the ground coconut paste and stir fry for about 3 minutes. |

Add the prawns, salt and garam masala powder and stir fry for another 3 minutes. |

Add the basmati rice, mix well. Add 2 cups water. Pressure cook on HIGH flame for ONE whistle. Remove cooker from heat and allow the pressure of cooker to be released naturally. |

Prawn pulao is ready. Using a fork, mix the rice well. |

Serve Hot! Enjoy!!! |

Hi Xanti,can you tell rice quantity in grams? Grams measure is more accurate than cups

Well, for pulao I use STANDARD cups measure that are available as its easy to measure water quantity accordingly:) I have used US cups measure, so 1 1/4 cups is about 230 grams rice 🙂
