Aloo Mutter (Potato & Peas)

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 medium sized Onion (chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin powder
  • 2 tsp Coriander powder
  • 2 large Potatoes (peeled and cubed)
  • 1 cup Green Peas
  • 1/2 tsp Chaat masala
  • 1/4 tsp amchur powder (dry mango powder)
  • 1 tsp Kasoori meethi (dry fenugreek leaves)
  • Salt (to taste)

Instructions

  • 1 In a pan, add oil. Add the cumin seeds and allow them to sizzle. Fry the onion till soft.
  • 2 Add the turmeric, chili, coriander and cumin powder. Stir fry for a minute.
  • 3 Add the potatoes, one cup water and 1 tsp salt. Cover and cook till potatoes are almost done.
  • 4 Add the peas and cook for 5 minutes.
  • 5 Add amchur, chat powders and kasoori meethi. Adjust salt.
  • 6 Cook till gravy thickens. Serve hot with rotis or parthas. (See Recipe Notes below)
