Can the bone of bombil b taken out before frying
Hello
Yes, it can be done 🙂
Hi Xanti
Your recipe for Fish Rolls (Fofos) should the fish fillets be raw or boiled before adding to the other ingredients? It is not mentioned in the ingredients or in the method. Unless of course one is using cod fish. Please specify. thank you
Hi Vera
Step 3 says – chop fish into fine pieces .
Step 4- add chopped fish to onion etc.
So it’s the raw chopped fish in the mixture !
If it was cooked , I would have shown a stepwise picture of the same and would have mentioned in the recipe😊
Thank you Xanti.
Apologies I missed that.
Can we pan fry the rolls also instead of deep fry, will it get cooked on the inside? Tia
Hi rose
As the fish is raw and if you form croquettes then I wud suggest to deep fry them…If you want to shallow fry, then form cutlets and fry them on medium heat.
Hi Xanti which fish did u used?? Is it bombil??
Hi Xanti Pinto. Is this an adfaptation of “Pastéis de Bacalhau”? Portuguese Recipe? Thank you.
Hi Julia
Yes , Fofos is originally made with bacalhua
I used tilapia fillets for this and they were very good .Thanks Xanti for this one.
Dear Xanti
Thanks so much for your receipe. I tried this today however I struggled to get them in a nice shape – every cutlet that I made was of a different shape. Also, when I put the mixture into the breadcrumbs the mixture kept splitting up – it was not staying in one place and I was having a tough time rolling into the breadcrumbs.
I am just going over in my mind a few mistakes I think I made unintentionally – maybe that’s why this happened?
1. Used all purpose flour instead of rice flour
2. Used two eggs since I used three tilapia fillets
3. After putting in the raw fish, mashed potatoes, put in the beaten egg mixture (missed to do it the other way round).
Please let me know if this is why the mixture was not staying in one place.
But inspite of all this, the cutlets tasted just fine and perfect 🙂
Thank you again and I look forward to trying more receipes.
Hi daisy
Use rice flour and not too many eggs, the mixture will turn too sticky.
You can refrigerate the mixture for 1-2 hours before you form them into shapes
Thanks so much xanti, will definitely follow this the next time. Have a great day.
Your most welcome
