Prepare the Prawn Stuffing:- |
1 |
In a pan, add the oil. Fry the onion till soft. Add the turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, taste maker. Fry for 30 seconds. |
|
2 |
Add the prawns. Cook till prawns are done. (do not add water while cooking). |
|
3 |
Add the green chilies, fry for a minute. Adjust the salt and sprinkle with coriander. Let the stuffing cool completely before you fill them in the pastry. |
|
|
Prepare the Pattice:- |
4 |
See recipe notes below on how to make your own Puff Pastry from scratch at home. |
|
5 |
Prepare pastry if making at home. Roll pastry sheet out 1/8 inch thickness. (If you roll too thin, you will not get nice flaky pastry after baking). |
|
6 |
Line the 12 pattice molds with the pastry. Using the mold cut 12 pastry rounds cutouts to cover top of the pattice. |
|
7 |
Fill with sufficient prawn filling. |
|
8 |
Preheat oven at 400 deg F (200 deg C). Cover the pattice with pastry cut outs. Brush top of pastry with egg. |
|
9 |
Bake for 15-18 minutes till nice golden brown color. |
|
10 |
Remove pattice from mold after 2-3 minutes. Allow to cool on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes before serving. |
|
11 |
Serve! Enjoy!!! |

Hi Xanti,
These look absolutely delicious and brings back memories of India and Felities Chicken Patties. I’m going to try them over the holidays. Do you know the recipe for the chicken filling? It has been so long but I think it was a white sauce. Thanks.
Hi Lydia
Recipe for white sauce stuffing is under my rissois recipe page

Hi Alcina

Absolutely loved the prawn filling it was yummy!!! This was my first attempt at pattice and rate this 5 stars. Everyone loved them. The other one which is must try is the Chicken. Both recipes are keepers.
This looks amazing going to try it next weekend.
Do I wait fir the prawn filling to cool.down before I start filling the patties?
Thanks
Sue
Hi Sue, yes it needs to be cooled completely.
What else can you use if you dont have the pattice molds?
Hi Shlain
you can make regular shaped (rectangular or triangular shaped) pattice.
Or you can even use cupcake mold pan if you have one and follow same procedure as the prawn pattice ones.
Thank you
Your most welcome Shlain 🙂

Hi I wanted to make these Prawn Patties for a party. Can I prepare the patties in the morning and keep them in the fridge. Half an hour before serving can I bake them straight from the fridge to the oven.
Kindly advise.TIA
Hi maria
Yes you can
But freeze them
Then before the party bake them directly while they are still frozen.
Probably for 25-30 mins
Hi Xanti
My try for puff pastry sheet failed
My patties just stayed like 1 layered samosa
I would like to know what went wrong
Hi shirley
Make sure the butter is chilled (straight from the refrigerator)
Follow the recipe, I cannot say what else might have gone wrong.
Hi Xanti ,
Currently I am in the UK. I tried making prawns pattice , but I used ready made puff pastry .
They were simply amazing. It reminded me of Goa , specially after Sunday mass when we went for a tea at Jackriss (Margao)… haven’t been to Goa for a long time … I think this recipe bridged the gap a little bit…. heheh
