Preheat oven to 160 degrees C (320 degrees F) and grease a baking pan(loaf pan) 9 x 5 x 3 inch (23 x 13 x 8 cm).
In the bowl of your electric mixer, with the paddle attachment (or with a hand mixer), beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. |

Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add in the vanilla extract. Beat. |

Fold in the flour (sieved with salt and baking powder) using a spatula. |

Remove 1 tbsp each of the cake batter in 2 bowls. Color each batter with pink and green liquid food colors. |

Pour batter in the pan in mixtures (layers- White cake mixture, green mixture)

Pour a tablespoon of white cake mixture,and then the pink mixture as shown.

Pour remaining white cake mixture over it. |
|

Bake for about 45 mins until risen, springy to the touch, and a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. |

Remove from oven and place on a wire rack to cool for 10 mins.
Remove cake from baking pan. Let the cake cook completely.
Cut into slices. (makes about 12 slices)

Thanks so much for this recipe..It was simple and easy to make..Everyone loved it the first time so made four times the qty the second time…The only thing i did differently was powered the sugar before mixing it..This way didn’t get crystals in the cake after its baked.. thanks and God bless you for sharing this…

Can your ribbon cake be made in a round cake tin as a birthday cake ?

You may try it out as I have not done ribbon cake in round tin . But in this case you will have to put the cake batters and then take a wooden skewer and run the skewer into the cake batter forming swirl designs. As , if you don’t do this then when u cut the cake you will get colored design only in center part of cake , sides of the cake slices will be plain white in color .

Where is the recipe at ? Check there … they might have given the tin measurement as well . Or if it says loaf pan then it’s the standard loaf pan that you get in market

My cake batter came out thick and not flowing. Although I’ve used correct measures the dough is more like a cookie dough. I’ve put it in the oven now but don’t think it’s gonna be a success. 🤔

Made it again as it got over in a jiffy and I was requested to make some more 😋. I also wanted to experiment with colours. Used cocoa and pink colour. I increased the recipe to 200g each of butter and flour, sugar at 150g and 3 eggs. Baked for 1 hour. Turned out so soft and melt in your mouth again. Thanks Xanti. I love all your recipes 💕
