Awesome collection of recipes…… great effort put in. Can you advise if the qty of mace is 1/2 tspn or tbspn or what measure. It only states half. Want to try this recipe. Thank you for inspiring…. miss my mum’s food here in US. 🙂
Hi Francisca (that’s my mom’s name and she spells it the same way😊)
Thanks for the appreciation… well, just use half piece of a full mace. I’m also based here in The US 😀… that’s what motivated me more to start xantilicious.com

Hi, I tried this xacuti, it turned out to be lip smacking. Used road runner not capon that made it to be perfectly nostalgic reminding me of my childhood days when mum is to prepare pre-shravan gavti chicken. Thanks.
Thank you Yuvraj for trying the xacuti recipe ..

Can crabs be made in the same masala?
Oh yes Smitha
You can make crab xacuti . 😊
I made the dish today following your recipe. I couldn’t add mace and poppy flower as it was not with me. Still the dish cane out to be so tasty that my family was over satisfied.
Why do you mix mace and poppy flower?
Hi jayanti
Thanks for trying the xacuti.
And for sharing your feedback 😊
Well , the xacuti masala recipe goes that way using those mentioned spices .
It’s just that to get the particular flavor . But glad you liked the taste without those spices as well 😊
I didn’t try your recipe yet but just read it. I want to try your recipe for xacuti masala because the masala we brought home from goa is now finished:(. I only noticed that you dont dry roast the onion and cocunut (so without oil). I remember my parents always do this when they make xacuti and say that its verry important step. My dad us from Salcete and mom from Bardez, so that cant be the difference.
Hi maria
Roasting coconut and onion is very important…
I always do that (Check step no . 2 in the recipe )
Else it won’t be the authentic xacuti.
(Yes , you may or may not use little oil to roast it though )
Hi…I tried it my curry turned orange colour and I used 1 full coconut…Should we double the quantity of spices …Taste was good
Hi Reena
If your doubling the recipe you need to double all the ingredients…
Roast the onion well till brown .
Whole Wheat flour from where to get.
Please check at your local stores
Hi Xanti … For 1kg chicken how much of xacuti masala should I put
Hello Xanti,
Requesting your expert comments…. Every time I make Bolinas they bake flat despite rolling them into tiny marble sized balls. Your expert advice on how to proceed with this is much appreciated.
Thank you!
Larissa

Mouth watering too.

Amazing recipe. love it .tried it several times .Thank you Xanti .
Hi Xanti. I made the powder as per your recipe. While grinding the onion and coconut , I added 2 tbsps of the powder and a little tamarind.
However, my curry has turned out slightly bitter. Any idea why?
Hi anoushka
Hope the same amount of chicken was used as mentioned in recipe for 2 tbsp amount of masala …
Don’t know where you could go wrong as i
Never encountered this problem
This is an AMAZING recipe,. Followed it to the T. It was perfect. The leftover gravy was used to make ros omelette and with some Goan Pao on the side.
