1 |
Keep ingredients ready. (I will be using gel colors, you can even use liquid food colors). |
|
2 |
Take 2 bowls and divide condensed milk into 2 portions. Add red/ pink to one portion and green color to the other portion. Add 1/2 tsp vanilla essence to each mixture. Mix them well separately. |
|
3 |
Take the green mixture, add half the quantity of icing sugar to it. Mix well. |
|
4 |
Now, add half the quantity of desiccated coconut to it. Mix well. |
|
5 |
It will get a little difficult at this point to mix it. Mixture tends to get harder. |
|
6 |
Place mixture on a parchment or wax paper and use another wax paper over mixture to roll it out to desired thickness. Leave this aside. |
|
7 |
Repeat steps 3, 4, 5 with red/ pink mixture with the remaining icing sugar and desiccated coconut. |
|
8 |
Place pink/red mixture over the green layer. |
|
9 |
Flatten it out. Let this dry for 30-45 minutes. |
|
10 |
Cut it into strips of desired sizes. |
|
11 |
Cut into cubes of desired sizes. Allow to dry preferably overnight at room temperature. |
|
12 |
Store in air tight container for a week to 10 days . Enjoy ! |

Hi Gina
Yes sure give it a try 😊
Hello
Your recipe calls for condensed milk but the picture you have is sweetened condensed milk – just wondering if all your recipes that call for Condensed milk are actually referring to sweetened condensed milk or just regular condensed milk ?
Thank you!
Hi Eugene
Are you going to use unsweetened condensed milk ?
Yes I have used sweetened condensed milk and sugar accordingly in the recipes .
Hi Xanti,
I followed the recipe but the mixture became a bit too sticky, please advise how I can correct it?
hi chris
im surprised that the mixture got sticky ! As i mentioned in recipe steps , it gets difficult to mix once you add the coconut to mixture. Well, in that case for sticky mixture, add more coconut to it.
Thanks Xanti going to try this. God bless
Thanks June
Do let me know how it turns out
Xanti Pinto gonna try this recipe today. Could I use fresh grated Coconut??? Will I hv to gently sort of toast it in the oven before use??
Hi maria
I’m not so sure on fresh coconut . Probably you can make it but the shelf life will be about 3 days

Hi Xanti, thank you for this easy peasy recipe. I would like to know if it’s ok to mix the batter with my bare hands as you say it tends to get a little difficult to mix as it hardens. Also once they are ready, does it have to be placed in the refrigerator? Please advise. Thank you in advance
Hi Lorraine

My son went on ‘xantilicious xantilicios xantilicios…whole day xantilicios’ after making the dodol inspired by you. Thank you dear Xanti. I read a lovely comment on your Roast chicken recipe I think someone rightly said that you will be making many families happy this Christmas or something like that….how true he was.
Well I tried your Coconut Ice, your dodol, your recipe and your Roast chicken. Everything turned out lovely. Thank you once again and God bless you and your family and keep you happy always.
Hi hazel

ReAlly means a lot to me 😊🙏thanks to you and your son . Thanks so much for the appreciation .

Hi Xanti ! I am eternally grateful to you for your recipes . My mum passed within a year of my marriage . She was a great cook and my entire family loved anything and everything that she cooked. I learnt all that I could within a year but when I discovered your site through traditional goan foodies on FB …. It literally changed my life. When I use your recipes for cooking it is just as close as my mum’s taste and my family just relish my dishes … All thanks to you.
Hi Valentina
Sorry for your loss.
Am happy that your able to cook following my recipes. Your feedback means a lot to me 🙏thanks so much for your lovely feedback 😊
Isn’t it better 2 roll de 2 colors separately n place on top of each other? Rolling on top of each other will also put pressure on de lower one I feel being a novice.
Hi Dorothy
You can give it a try if you wish to , I have not tried it that way though .
Hi Xanti,
I am going to try your ice coconut. A silly question, but hope you can clear my doubts the desiccated coconut is the frozen coconut yiu get from the Indian store or the sweet dry one you get?
TIA.
Hi Mitchelle
Dedicated coconut is not frozen.
It’s kept on the shelves in Indian stores

Super simple and easy recipes. Thank you Xanti. I have a question…can I use fresh coconut instead of dessicated coconut for the Coconut Ice recipe? Will it change the texture or taste by any chance?
Hi Juliana
Hmmm…. I have not tried with fresh coconut … usually done with descaated as this recipe is not cooked
The shelf life with fresh coconut will be way too less
Hi Xanti
