Homemade Egg Mayonnaise

A homemade mayonnaise recipe is simple to make and has better flavor than the store bought mayonnaise. Homemade mayonnaise can be done in less than 5 minutes’ time.

  • 1 Whole Egg
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds powder (or mustard paste)
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp Granulated white sugar
  • 2 tsp White Vinegar
  • 1 cup Oil (any oil, veg, olive, canola)
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper powder (optional)


  • 1 In a glass bowl, add egg, vinegar, salt, sugar and mustard powder or paste.
  • 2 Using an electric beater whip it up till well mixed. (about half a minute).
  • 3 Keeping beater ON, keep beating the mixture while adding oil side by side in a stream (very slowly). This is how it will look once you are done with ½ cup of Oil.
  • 4 Continue beating and adding the remaining ½ cup oil till the mixture thickens. Add pepper powder and whip again for half a minute. Done!
  • 5 Store Mayonnaise in a glass jar. Refrigerate it and use it within 3-4 days of preparation.
