Homemade Pizza Sauce

This recipe for homemade pizza sauce takes only 15 minutes to make, and is as rich and deep in flavor. As the sauce simmers, it allows the tomatoes, garlic, and oregano to mingle and meld. Freeze the leftovers so you have pizza sauce at hand whenever you have a hankering for good homemade pizza

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Oil (preferably Olive oil)
  • 1 medium sized Onion (finely chopped)
  • 500 grams Tomatoes (red and ripe)
  • 2 Garlic cloves (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp Oregano
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Granulated white sugar

Instructions

  • 1 Keep tomatoes in hot water for 15 mins. Peel and chop them. Add remaining ingredients to it besides onion and oil.
  • 2 Heat oil in a sauce pan, fry onions till soft.
  • 3 Add the tomatoes.
  • 4 Using a masher, mash the tomatoes slightly.
  • 5 Cook sauce for 15 mins. Cool and store in a glass jar bottle.

Recipe Notes

  1. Refrigerate it and use when required.
  2. Store in refrigerator for 2 weeks.
  3. You can put it in a zip lock bag make sure you get all of the air out. Then flatten and freeze it, it should be good for months. Just thaw under hot water and heat it up.
