Kingfish Rawa Masala Fry

A basic recipe for frying fish. Serve as an appetizer or as a side along with rice and curry.

  • 4 large Kingfish slices
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp red chili powder
  • Vinegar (as required )
  • Rawa (fine semolina, as required)
  • Oil (for shallow fry)


  • 1 Apply salt to kingfish slices.
  • 2 In a bowl, mix turmeic powder, chili powder and vinegar as required to form a smooth paste.
  • 3 Apply spice paste on both sides of fish slices.
  • 4 Coat in rawa on both sides.
  • 5 Heat oil in a pan. Shallow fry the fish slices.
  • 6 Fry on both sides till a nice golden brown color.
  • 7 Serve as an appetizer along with a salad or serve fish as a side with Goan curry and rice. (See recipe notes below)
