Spinach Alle Belle

My Third Innovation for a Challenge. Accepting the challenge with given five ingredients in the Mystery Box- Mango, Red Chilies, Jaggery, Spinach and Cashew nuts... had to come up with an innovative dish that's Goan with a twist. This time I gave a twist to the Goan Sweet Classic "ALLE BELLE" to make it a savory version presented as "SPINACH ALLE BELLE" . Stuffed with prawns , ripe mango, veggies, cashewnut in a coconut milk xacuti masala based gravy.

  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Spinach puree (grind spinach with water)
  • Coconut Milk (as required for batter)
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 Egg
  • Oil (as required )
  • Stuffing (See recipe notes below for link)


  • 1 Prepare stuffing and keep aside. Thicken this gravy further so as to be able to stuff it in the pancakes. (See recipe notes below for stuffing)
  • 2 In a bowl, add the flour, salt, spinach puree and egg. Mix well.
  • 3 Add coconut milk as required to make a alle belle pancake consistency batter.
  • 4 In a small pancake sized skillet, brush some oil over pan. Pour batter to make thin sheet.
  • 5 You know its cooked when it changed color to a darker shade of green. Remove sheet and keep aside. Prepare rest sheets in same manner.
  • 6 Put some filling over the sheets, as you would do it for alle belle. (See notes below).
  • 7 Fold them like alle belle (see notes below for link on alle belle to fold them).
  • 8 Serve ! Enjoy !!!
