Crispy Beef

A quick and easy to make restaurant styled beef starter. Came across this dish at a restaurant here recently with bell peppers (I have not added), the beef seemed to have been deep fried (was too oily, so I shallow fried in the recipe). So basically marinated beef strips , shallow fried and then added sauces that I had handy with me.

Ingredients

For Beef Marination:-
  • 300 grams Beef (cut into thin strips)
  • 2 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper
  • 3-4 tbsp Rice flour (can add more to coat the beef pieces well with the flour)
For the Sauces:-
  • 3 tbsp Soya sauce (I used low sodium soya sauce)
  • 1 tbsp Tomato Ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Chili/Sriracha Sauce (see notes below)
  • 1 tbsp White Vinegar
  • 1 tsp Granulated white sugar
Other Ingredients:-
  • 8 Cloves of garlic (finely chopped)
  • 2 medium sized Onion (sliced)
  • Sesame (to sprinkle on the ready dish, optional)

Instructions

  • 1 Marinate the beef strips with lemon juice, salt, pepper and rice flour. Keep aside for 15-20 minutes.
  • 2 Mix the sauces in a bowl mentioned under 'For the Sauces' Ingredients list.
  • 3 In a skillet, add little oil, fry the beef pieces.
  • 4 Fry till cooked and nice and golden in color. Remove the beef pieces from pan and keep them aside.
  • 5 In same pan , add some oil, fry the garlic for few seconds.
  • 6 Then fry the onions till soft. (You can also add bell peppers here, fry till soft ). Add the sauce mixture.
  • 7 Toss in the fried beef pieces till well coated with the sauce.
  • 8 Sprinkle with sesame seeds (optional) and serve. Enjoy this starter!
