Sweet and Sour Prawns/Shripms - Battered, fried prawns/shrimps and fried vegetables in a smooth tomato sauce sweet and sour sauce .

Ingredients

For the Batter Marinade: -
  • 24 large Prawns/Shrimps
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 tbsp Cornflour
  • 1 tbsp All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper powder
  • 1 tsp Red chili flakes
  • 1 tbsp Soya sauce (low sodium )
Other Ingredients: -
  • 4 Garlic cloves (sliced)
  • 1 inch Ginger Piece (chopped)
  • 2 medium sized Carrots (thinly sliced)
  • 4 tbsp Green bell peppers (chopped/diced)
  • 4 tbsp Red bell peppers (chopped/diced)
  • 4 tbsp Yellow bell peppers (chopped/diced)
  • 2 cup Pineapple juice (or water)
  • 3 tbsp White Vinegar
  • 4 tbsp Tomato Ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Cornflour
  • Salt (as required)
  • Oil (as required)

Instructions

  • 1 Mix all the ingredients for Batter marinade.
  • 2 Add 1 tbsp water and make a thick batter.
  • 3 Shallow fry or deep fry the prawns in batches and keep them on an absorbent paper towel.
  • 4 Make a mixture of pineapple juice (or water), vinegar, ketchup and cornflour. Mix well. Keep aside.
  • 5 In a pan, add 3 tbsp oil and add the garlic, ginger. Fry for a minute. Add the bell peppers and carrot and fry for another 5 minutes.
  • 6 Add the pineapple juice mixture gradually, stir well.
  • 7 The sauce will start to thicken.
  • 8 Once sauce is thickened, add the prawns.
  • 9 Cook for 2 minutes. Adjust the salt and vinegar.
  • 10 Serve hot with fried rice or noodles. (See Recipe notes below).
